Timeline Details

Morning

• Departure: Hotel pickup.

• 1st Stop: Tiananmen Square. The largest urban central square in the world.

• 2nd Stop: The Palace Museum (Forbidden City). The world's largest and best-preserved ancient imperial palace complex.

  • Key Route: Meridian Gate, Halls of Harmony (Supreme, Central, Preserving), Palaces (Heavenly Purity, Union and Peace, Earthly Tranquility), and Hall of Mental Cultivation.

Noon

• Lunch: On your own.

Afternoon

• 3rd Stop: Temple of Heaven. A UNESCO site and the world's largest ancient sacrificial altar complex, where emperors historically prayed for rain and good harvests.

• 4th Stop: Qianmen Street. A concentrated historical hutong area.

  • Route: Explore the west side first; add Sanli River Hutong if time permits.

  • Highlights: Five-Pavilion Arch, Beijing Fang, Xianyu Snack Street, Dashilan, Yangmeizhu Xiejie, and time-honored traditional shops.

Evening

• End of Tour: Return to hotel.

Optional Night Activity: Cycling

• Restriction: Cycling across Chang'an Avenue is prohibited between 19:00 and 23:00.

• Alternative Scenic Route: Ride west from Chongwen Men to Heping Men. Head north via Fuyou Street, then east passing the Palace Museum, Jingshan Park, Beihai Park, Peking University Red Building, and China Art Museum. Continue to Dongsi, then ride south back to Chongwen Men.
